Selling Your
Home During the Holidays
By Ann Smith,
Broker
The holiday season is fast approaching but that doesn’t mean home sales
come to a complete standstill. Even though this can be a hectic time to
sell; it can also be an ideal time to showcase your home at its best.
If
you’re trying to sell your home now, be sure it shows well – and retains
its look of spaciousness. Don’t let your festive decorations compromise
your sale’s efforts.
-
Use fresh garland and swags outside your front entrance for a welcoming
first impression.
-
If you have music playing, keep it non-denominational.
-
Indoor displays of fresh pine add an inviting aroma of nature to the air.
-
Be careful that you don’t cover up appealing selling features such as
fireplace mantels, stairs, and stained-glass windows.
-
This is not the time to put up a massive tree in the front foyer. Use
smaller versions to enhance the feeling of spaciousness.
-
Red accents are emotionally appealing – use more red than green
throughout your home.
-
Never leave candles burning unattended.
-
If you have extra extension cords in place, check that they are safely
tucked away.
-
Keep wrapped gifts under the tree to a minimum.
-
Set a plate of holiday cookies on the counter, next to festive napkins.
-
Simmer spicy apple cider on the stove, and set out cups for guests.
-
Keep festive decorations to a minimum throughout your home.
Whether you’re buying or selling, remember showings do slow during the
holidays, so remember the basics.
Have it well priced
and make sure it’s in good condition. Your Realtor will make sure it is
priced right…and take time to enjoy time with your family and friends.
Happy Holidays!
