Selling Predictions for Fall
2009
...According to the Farmer's Almanac
By Ann Smith, Broker
By mid September, summer holidays
are a sweet memory and you’re probably looking forward to crisp
Fall days, harvest time and all its offerings, and of course,
Fall fairs. Thoughts of back to school and work, and generally
getting back into routine are foremost on most folk’s minds.
And with that comes a sense of purpose to put their lives in
order after a couple of relaxing months…so it can be the ideal
time to get ready to sell before the snow flies and the next
round of holidays arrive.
If you’re considering selling at this time of year, your first
step is to book an appointment with a reputable Realtor…to
determine what your next step should be.
-
You and your
Realtor should decide what areas need improvements before listing your
house for sale. Then, while waiting for the back-to-school-hubbub to ebb,
you can make the necessary improvements and be ready to list at a
moment’s notice. According to the Farmer’s Almanac, this autumn promises
to be warm, but wet – so be sure any leakage problems are dealt with
before listing.
-
Schedule a
furnace tune-up. This close to winter potential buyers want peace of mind
that they won’t be left out in the cold.
-
Your Realtor
will help determine the best price for your home’s status and curb
appeal, and how it compares to other current market offerings and
economic conditions. The right price will help sell your house during any
season.
Potential buyers at this time will want to
be settled into their new home before the upcoming holidays. This gives you
two benefits:
-
If you’re
ready for a quick sale, you can accommodate a cast closing date. So pack
excess items from your house now to relieve stress of unorganized packing
later.
-
Potential
buyers will more likely be house hunting during October, thinking ahead
to a November or early December move in date. The Farmer’s Almanac shows
the latter part of October 2009 to be relatively warm, dry, and sunny,
which creates good conditions for house hunting – and closing a sale.
